They regularly carried around the state, with Harly later mentioning, “There was no moment when I lived anywhere extended than 2 years. I was always the social outcast. Maybe I didn’t manage what people believed because I was thinking, ‘Well, I presumably won’t stick close here for overly long.’ She explains her youth as “nomadic,” as Harly moved and living with her mother in Florida and her father in Ohio:
I almost lived somewhat the life of a nomadic even when I lived in Ohio. We lived and spent time in rural areas, never really in city areas or suburban areas. We rode 4 wheelers. We had ferrets and pigs and also creeks in my backyard. It was just like Huckleberry Finn and was a tomboy for a while. It’s pretty hard to describe because I was raised up with my dad and my mom simultaneously but as a separate individual. After all, they were not together. So I got boyishness from my dad and femininity from my mother. He loved fishing, hunting, boating, football, basketball, and baseball. And then my mom was very strong and also soft, but more of an artist. So I had the best of both worlds.
